Dear people,

In Olot, a small town (north of Barcelona), the local animal shelter APADOG is about to loose its fight. The city council recently decided to allow bull-fights again!

THIS HAS TO BE STOPPED!! We can't allow this horrible habit to again start destroying the minds of our people and children!
PLEASE HELP US TO STOP THESE HORRIBLE BULL-FIGHTS!!

THE PROBLEM TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST NOW:

Two years ago, an animal protection initiative (with different non profit organisations and political groups) managed to close down the bull-fighting arena in Olot. There was a votation in the city council, the delegates of the opposition won the vote, and the arena was closed.

It is not long ago that one of the delegates who is in favour of the bull fights presented a proposal to re-open the arena, and this time, with dirty tricks, they won the vote to re-open the bull fighting arena. (Again, there are economical interests at the expense of the animals behind this!)

The first bull fight will take place on May 1st if we don't manage to stop it! A problem that we thought was solved definitively will start over again... the most famous spanish "toreros" are expected to come!

Plenty of shops in the city have now posters announcing the bull fight. APADOG will make a list with the names of these shops and publish it in the newspapers, so that people don't buy in these shops anymore. But as you know the animal shelters here are small, have very few people and very little money, and are an easy target for the city council and the regional council which are laughing at them.

We are also organising a demonstration on May 1st in Olot.

BUT YOUR HELP IS VERY IMPORTANT!

It will take you only a couple of minutes. As Olot is a small and neat tourist place, the city council will not like at all to get complaining emails from possible tourists.

Furthermore the city council thinks that APADOG is alone.
WE HAVE TO SHOW THEM THAT THEY ARE NOT!

Please send the following e-mail by coyping and pasting it to your e-mail (or feel free to write what you wish, even in other languages) to the mayor and also the other e-mail addresses listed below, so that they know you have written an e-mail to the mayor of Olot.

Dear Mr. Lluis Sacrest, Mayor of Olot,

Through several animal protection organisations of your country, I have learnt that the "Plaça de Toros d'Olot" will open again on May 1st, after a votation that you have "won" with dirty tricks.

It is a big shame that you are still so primitive and undeveloped. To enjoy watching others suffering to death, you have to be mentally sick. When I hear about this, I am not surprised anymore that so many women in your country are mistreated and killed by their husbands - the administration itself supports and promotes violence and death.

Is this what you want to teach your children? That violence, blood, death - is fun? To have no respect for animals, nature or other people?

You can be sure that I will never spend my holiday in your horrible city, or even visit it, as long as these awful bull-fights are allowed, and I will inform other people and organisations, through internet, newspaper and other media to do the same!
