Barranco de Poqueira
The Poqueira ravine is
probably one of the most impressive parts of the Alpujarra
Rural and the Sierra Nevada National Park with terraced walls rising up
to Veleta
and Mulhacén mountain, highest mountain of the Iberian peninsula,
3482m.
This protected natural environment,
declared reserve of the biosphere by the UNESCO, shows the
visitor an unimaginably rich variety of local
micro climates and unique fauna
and flora. The high sierra has still a lot of specimen you can
only find here in the
Andalusia Sierra Nevada National Park.
This page was created to show and invite
visitors to the beauties of our country, the high mountain
areas of the Sierra Nevada National Park with its often
astonishing
nature and the famous, sunny Mediterranean climate.
Astonishing views from Capileira
over the Poqueira Gorge down to the sea. Sometimes
on a clear day in autumn or spring you have a fantastic view to
the distant mountains
of the Moroccan Rif on the North African shore.

Colorearte Capileira maintains a permanent
arts gallery opened all year over. The artists collective participates in
the project Del Polo Sur al Polo Norte sponsored
by the European Community.

the Poqueira ravine, Capileira, Bubión and Pampaneira are
prepared to offer our visitors a great variety of tourist activities
and rural holidays.

spring water that runs out of the rock every few steps.
Paragliding is possible almost all
year over, due to the excellent climatic conditions of the
region with unique micro climate areas, concentrated
on very small geographic surface.
Distances to the Beach, Costa
Tropical, La Herradura, Almuñecar, Salobreña, Motril,
or Granada, about 60 min by car. To the Costa del Sol and
Malaga Airport it is usually
a two hours ride, depending where to go.

Airport or at any place of your choice in
Andalusia and the Costa del Sol.
