POI RADARs
Installation procedure
1.- If this is the first time: uncompress the
following files in a folder in your PC:
·
The file
containing icons you’ve chosen: BMP_Radares_XXX.zip
·
The file
containing the RADAR categories: ES RADAR Robser
vX.XX.rar
·
And the voices file (Voces_de_alerta_para_tomtom_6_radares.zip),
only if you have TomTom 6 or TomTom GO/ONE/Rider .
2.- Once read, delete file "ES_R_AA_Que_hay_de_nuevo.txt"
from the folder.
3.- Delete files ES_R_Paneles_Informativos
having extensions .BMP .OV2, and .OGG, because
they’re not RADARS and they only will make TomTom sing at every information
panel in the road.
4.- Select all remaining files and copy them into the
folder in the memory card containing the Iberia map (Iberia...,
ES and PT plus major roads of WE... or Western Europe...). You may send the files via bluetooth,
or using a card reader in your PC. It is advisable
not doing this via ActiveSync or PcSuite. This could result in useless files.
All things considered, the map folder
would contain, as a minimum, the following files:
Note: as a novelty, in
TomTom 7 versions put
OGG files into Sounds folder.
5.- Finally, open TomTom and
activate POI warnings, both sound and
distance. Don’t know how to do it? – Certainly, you’re a rookie. That’s easy
to solve. It is written in pages 37 and 38 of TomTom user’s manual (Spanish
Version!). You’ll have to do your share, hey, I think so. But if
reading is not your strong point, c’mon I’ll accept your demand. Click
here. A good trick is putting as distance for warning the speed limit in Km/h multiplied by
7,5. For example, setting warning for 100 category to 750 meters, 120 one
to 900 meters, 50 to 375...
6.- For further updates: you’ll only have to pass OV2
files, because icons are kept. Accept when asked on file overwriting. And,
calm down, audio warnings are also preserved.
C’mon, have fun, and should you find an unfiled RADAR you know what to do: file it down so everyone of us can benefit
from this.
