How traffic RADARs are in Spain

In view of the quantity of traffic RADARs that the DGT (Spanish Traffic General Directorate) is installing, it’s likely we mistake radars for any gadget we may see in our roads.

I hope this small illustrated guide helps you to distinguish between real “speeding haunters” and remaining paraphernalia.

Let's go with real Speedtraps. There are two main cathegories of them, Stationary radars and Hidden radars:

Stationary Radars: As the name reads, they’re permanent fixtures from roads: panels, booths and traffic lights. Having in mind this type lends itself to false alerts, we’ll focus on it.

Stationary Radar types (or real RADAR pictures):

Hidden: placed in DGT vehicles, identified or not, that may be parked in any place waiting for the unwary “prey” with the best will to send him a nice and expensive picture.
