Jaime Segura was defined by the specialised critic in the following terms: "Eclectic and self-taught, vocational of photojournalism , seduced by design and with a certain predisposition to the visual techniques of the Germanic photographic tradition, he works from certain personal convictions that create in him a perfect mix of hedonism and heterodoxy.”

Jaime’s passion for photography was born out of his experiences as a solitary traveller: “An authentic culture that demands to be let behind your country and customs to experience new worlds. Gradually, I came to realize that, in fact, photography did not interest me as mere testimony. There is a pleasant sensation of renaissance and revelation in places where one can only be a witness to other lives.”

Kenya, Nepal, Tanzania, Cuba, England, Senegal, Mali, Ecuador, Iceland, Peru, the United States, Japan, Holland, Russia, Norway and Sweden are some of the places portrayed "from the soul" of Jaime Segura. His aesthetic is based on a balance of technical and historical knowledge and the emotional capacity of the image. His photography is conceived according to a combination of effects that depend on light and the relationship between colors and shapes as well as the imbrications of these elements, all of which are contained within an intellectual frame. This frame is fundamental for ordering and classifying what already exists. When caught by his camera, it transfigures objective existence into an aesthetic experience.

Going past theory and formula, Jaime Segura understands that photography that does not exist for the senses does not exist either for the intellect: "A good photograph is a complex meditation on the beyond. The photographer is a marauder, a strategist of the glance, a poet of urgency.:

From his solo exhibitions, we can emphasize "Strategies at a Glance" (2002) and "Elementary Architectures" (2004). Some series from this last one were included in the 2003 edition of the International Biennial "Fotonoviembre".
