Restoration of the Generala's Bed dolmen in Roses
|
On sunday may 6, 2001, in the midst of the IV Megalithic May, coordinated by Albera Viva,
was celebrated in Roses the V Megalithic Feast. Then was inaugurated the
restoration of the passage tomb known as Generala's Bed. The work was in charge of
GESEART (Grup Empordančs de Salvaguarda i Estudi de l'Arquitectura Rural i Tradicional)
and was funded by the Local Government of Roses. This dolmen is also known by the name Sureda d'en Falp and was first published by Manuel Cazurro, in the year 1912. This author says that he was unable to find it. In the year 1925 the dolmen was visited by Pere Bosch Gimpera and Lluís Pericot. In the year 1934, Isidre Macau published it with the name Burnt House dolmen. This author gave the first photo of the monument. In the year 1943, Lluís Pericot published it again with a plan and the dimensions. Its actual name -Generala's Bed- was first cited by Joan Badia, in the year 1981, after Joan Ortensi, from Roses, who told him that this was the popular name for the megalith. |
